the work above, “peggy,” is the most recent project of this collection. this piece was meticulously constructed over the course of five months. it is comprised of 2788 hand cut, sanded, and painted dowels that when put together form a modern interpretation of a painting by artist roy lichtenstein entitled, “m-maybe.” it measures seven feet wide by three feet tall. commissionable variations of this work can be constructed upon request.

1408 Poster Unlocked

I was hoping that when Sony finally released an official poster for 1408 (apparently the last one, with the bed wasn't meant to be released) they'd use the door to the room, with the room number on it in the poster's art work. Alright, that's kind of obvious and luckily Sony wasn't listening to me because they came up with something even better, and used a room key instead.

You remember 1408, it's the John Cusack horror movie with those awesome trailers. It's an adaptation of a Steven King short story, the tale of an author trapped in a haunted hotel room and tortured by the ghosts inside it.

1408 hits theaters June 22nd. Let Sam Jackson stare into your soul by checking out the first real poster for 1408 below. To see it in high-res click here.

Maybe What I Need Is "Just More Drugs"
Wednesday, 2 May 2007 12:00 A GMT-04
How about some more mellow music to follow yesterday's offering? These songs are from Barzin, a songwriter from Toronto who's just put out an EP called Just More Drugs. He's not quite a solo artist but rather works with a group of musicians that come and go on his recordings, so I don't know how to classify him.

I do know that I like the gentle acoustic guitar work and the way his voice is so vulnerable and open. There's something kind of dreamy about it. There's also a line in "Just More Drugs" that perfectly describes how I felt yesterday: Wake up / Just a little breakdown / Start out the day just a little wrong / Who should I call when I don't know why I'm calling?

He had a song out last year that was one of my favorite sad songs called "Let's Go Driving," and this music is in a similar melancholic vein, although not quite as slow.

Barzin --"Just More Drugs (Resonance FM Glass Shrimp Session)" mp3 off Just More Drugs EP (buy) For some reason, this song won't play when you click on the blue arrow. It will play if you left click on the title, and it will download, but the arrow's not working.

Barzin --"Queen Jane" mp3 off Just More Drugs EP This one works just fine.

Oh, I'm just kidding about the drugs. The recreational ones, anyway. The therapeutic ones are another matter entirely.

Feds: Millions have eaten chickens fed tainted pet food
Story Highlights•Chickens in possibly hundreds of farms may have been fed tainted food
• Likelihood of human illness after eating such chicken is "very low"
• No human illness linked to the tainted feed reported to FDA, USDA

NEW YORK (CNN) -- People have eaten millions of chickens that were given feed tainted with recalled pet food, federal officials said Tuesday, though they said the threat to human health is minimal.
